Hello, been browsing for a while and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Diane and I was diagnosed with possible fybro at the beginning of this year, had a couple of flare ups throughout the year but am currently struggling to gain control of my current flrare up, and have been off work now for what will be my third week. I am really struggling physically and emtionally. My doctor is treating me for fybro now as I had blood tests which ruled out other possible conditions. Any info and advice would be very much appreciated, feel like life is on hold at the moment. I have a very emotionally and physical demanding job, working in a specail school with a high degree of children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, i work 4 days a week, and am also due to start studying again at the end of Jan - I am thtwo thirds the way through a degree in child and youth studies with the open university. I also have two children, aged almost 14 and 11. My eldest as a heart condition, although currently well he has had two lots of open heart surgery, and will need more in the future.
Thank you for reading,
Diane.

Hi Diane smile.gif

well done for getting a good dx smile.gif thats one of the hard bits

I dont need to tell you that stress can flare up thye fms, and it sounds like you have a ton of it sad.gif all the little things add up and bam! it knocks you for 6.

I h ope you are feeling a bit better soon smile.gif

top tips I guess, keep warm! the cold and damp dont help
take supplements a lot of people benefit from cod liver oil/fish oil and glucosimine, it takes a while to get into your system and some people say they dont notice a difference until they stop taking it, then realsie how good it was

anti inflamatory tablets and pain killers will help, take them before the pain gets too bad, if you leave it too long it can feel like its not making any difference to the pain, this is something I only twigged a few years ago! biggrin.gif I was leaving it far too long thinking I could work through the pain, and I was only fooling myself (I dont like taking tablets but they help)

sleep! but such a hard thing to do sad.gif I find that I have to stop drinking tea after 9pm otherwise I will wake up several times a night and then have dreadful probs getting back to sleep

and the best tip is listen to your body
only you know what you can cope with, how much you can do and what you can do without

I do hope that you feel brighter after christmas and your gp helps you out

take care and gentle hugs

Welcome to the board! Which symptoms are you currently finding the most difficult to cope with?

Best wishes,

Prickles
